Nature at Ryusenji
Vast site of Ryusenji surrounds Ryuo Lake which forms one of the Okayama Prefectural Nature Parks and throughout the four seasons visitors can enjoy nature.
The typical plants here are Kobanomitsuba Tsutsuji (Rhododendron riticulatum) in April, Tokisou(Pogonia japonia) in May, Nohana-Shobu (Iris ensata) in June, Sagisou (Pecteilis radiata) in August and Momiji (Japanese maple) in November.
The sacred Ryuo Lake has about a 2km peaceful circular walking road.
Small wetlands are scattered around the lake.“Ryusenji-no Sizen-wo Mamorukai”which is a club of the volunteers was formed in 2009 and since then they safeguard wetland plants existence. They want to leave the small wetlands for a next generation as a natural heritage of Okayama-City.
